As a storyteller, I define my work through themes and expanded narratives surrounding community and cultural practices, rather than a particular skill set. As a crafter, I call myself a fibre artist. I am of the belief that those two parts of my identity lean into each other. I explore in my work the connection between traditionally feminine crafts and the power of storytelling. I bring in my own personal history and community folklore, For example, I often explore the connection between family recipes and the memories surrounding meal times. This can also be family stories and history, the community of New York, Trinidad, South Africa and England, or the general folklore of the feminine experience, with all the nuances and complexities that come with one's own experience of humanity.
